This course will provide a basic introduction to physical, chemical, and biological properties of Earth’s ocean. The course is divided into three parts that address various aspects of the marine carbon cycle, including carbon and tracer transport by the ocean circulation, carbonate chemistry, and fixation/respiration of carbon by biological processes. The focus of the course is on understanding the processes that give rise to observed distributions of physical and biogeochemical properties in the ocean. We will also discuss the ocean’s role in the climate system as well as in situ and remote sensing techniques for monitoring changing ocean properties.
Project 3: Extracting Time-Series
The function takes the X coordinate , Y coordinate and Zoom Level parameters. Replace the X and Y coordinates with the coordinates of your city and click Run to see the images of your city. Geostationary satellites is getting the remote sensing data about weather and climate. Delve into the usage of remote sensing and GIS in earthquake and groundwater studies in this free online course. The course is offered during the spring semester each year in an online formate. Modeling Agricultural and Water Resource Dynamics — Join the Biosystems Analytics Lab to study the effects of global and local change on fresh and estuarine water quality, land-sea connectivity and agroecosystem productivity.
The following script contains the code for two popular techniques for post-processing classification results. A recommended best practice for improving the accuracy of your machine learning model is to tune different parameters. For example, when using the ee.Classifier.smileRandomForest() classifier, we must specify the Number of Trees.

Each student is required to produce a final report that discusses their understanding of the problem, documents the process of data discovery and analysis, and summarizes their results. You are not required to attend any lectures or meetings; however, your instructor may choose to host optional webinar discussions or help sessions using a Zoom virtual classroom. Attendance in these sessions is not mandatory and does not explicitly count toward your grade; however, most students find these interactive opportunities are a valuable part of their learning experience.
- You will need an administrator-level password for your computer to be able to install the software required for this course.
- To do this, a common strategy is to divide your training samples into 2 random fractions – one used for training the model and the other for validation of the predictions.
- Quizzes and tests can be timed to help affirm your mastery of the material.
- This program is designed for teachers already licensed in elementary or secondary general education.
- Course on contemporary topics in environmental science and engineering.
- As the impact of COVID-19 intensifies globally, the UN System Staff College is expanding its array of online offerings to enable UN personnel and partners to sharpen their knowledge and skills from home.
You will also learn how to take long time-series of data and create charts. No, we welcome applications from students with strong computational skills from diverse backgrounds, including computer science, data science, environmental science, ecology, engineering, and more. All topics covered will be close to your heart as a school librarian as you collaborate with teachers on instructional units and create user-friendly school library programs that support the love for reading and information literacy. Finally, for this nationally recognized NCATE-AASL-approved school library media education program, you will complete field experience in both elementary and secondary schools for the K–12 school library endorsement. The following are examples of eLearning courses available online from spring 2008 through spring 2010 along with proposed courses. This certificate program allows you to take courses in the specialty area of early literacy and apply these courses directly toward the full master’s degree. In light of federal NCLB and state CBLA initiatives, this supplementary certificate offers primary grade teachers, preschool teachers and para-educators greater background in the development, assessment and instruction of literacy for young children.
This course has a lecture and lab component, and lab work will give practical experience to students using the ArcGIS suite. Students will complete a GIS project tailored to their disciplinary interest and also explore religious faith in professional GIS life.
You are not expected to be the world’s greatest expert in any of these topics, but do be honest in your self-assessment. If you truly know what each of these bullets refer to and could demonstrate that task, you are probably prepared to take this course. If you have no idea what one or more of these bullets are referring to, then one of the prerequisite courses may be a better choice. If you have any questions now or at any point during this lesson, please feel free to post them to the General Course Questions and Comments Discussion Forum in Canvas. Representation as Research: Contemporary Topics in Landscape Visualization
Students examine why sustainable solutions to grand societal challenges need geospatial analytics. Emphasis is placed on the roles that location, spatial interaction and multi-scale processes play in scientific discovery and communication. Discussion of seminal and leading-edge approaches to problem-solving is Best Courses motivated by grand challenges such as controlling the spread of emerging infectious disease, providing access to clean water and creating smart and connected cities. Students also engage in several written and oral presentation activities focused on data science communication skills and professionalization.
